22 Aloe Vera Face Packs based on Skin Type

Is it just me or have you felt it too? Aloe Vera is one of the very weird-looking plants though commonly found. They don’t have normal looking stems or leaves that usually belong to plants, they instead have green stiff leaves shaped in the form of tongues. Weird! Maybe weird but the gel found in these leaves can do wonders to your face and skin. Used widely in many cosmetics lotions, creams and soaps this gel performs miracles even in its raw state.

Trust me on this don’t waste your money on buying these lotions or creams when you can easily get its gel in the raw form and in fact this provides you with way better benefits. If not then you wouldn’t find this as one of the staple ingredient in healing used by the ancient Egyptians, known widely as ‘lily of the desert’. For better motivation of including this miracle gel in our beauty product is the fact that Cleopatra used aloe gel in her beauty regime for skin rejuvenation. Pretty inspiring I’ll say.

Want some moisturizer? Want that burn to get healed? Want to remove a tan? Name it! Aloe Vera is your solution. Wow, that seems interesting! So I’m sure you’ll want to know more about this weird, sorry, miraculous plant.

ALOE JUICE VS ALOE GEL

I understand that just like how it was for me you must be having this doubt too. Well, for a start both are not the same thing. Aloe juice is the sticky colourless, slightly yellowish liquid found concentrated towards the outer edges, also known as the sap of the plant whereas aloe gel is the thick clear layer that is concentrated in the centre.

Comparatively, aloe gel has much more benefits than aloe juice. Aloe juice is very laxative whereas all the other benefits of aloe vera that we generally talk of are owned by the aloe gel. Since there is no harm using both together you need not find trouble separating the two.

However if you do wish to separate aloe juice from the gel, it’s not difficult at all. This is discussed below.

EXTRACTING THE GEL

aloe juice drop close up
Aloe leaf cut

If you want to separate the juice and the gel then cut the leaf from the base, place it upright in a container in a tilted position for about ten minutes. The juice gets drained automatically. After the juice is drained, wash the leaf.

To extract the gel, first cut off the tip of the leaf and the sides that contains thorns, then cut off the thick leaf layer surrounding the gel thus exposing the clear solid gel within. If you don’t want to separate the juice from the gel then you can skip the draining and directly cut off the leaf layer and use both gel and juice.

In order to use the gel for face packs you can either mash it using fork/spoon or blend in an electronic mixer.
